Volunteer
Do you want to learn more about the seed-to-table process?
Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge with children and their families and teachers?
Are you willing to help on a regular basis?
If you answered yes to the questions above, we have an exciting opportunity for you! The Edible Schoolyard needs help from the community and we encourage participation from a wide range of people, whether or not you have a green thumb.
Garden Volunteers
Volunteers respond to the needs set forth by our garden manager and should be ready to weed, clip, dig, clean or rake — whatever is required. Specific hours will be determined with the garden manager and volunteer coordinator each season. Gardening experience is highly valued, but not necessary.
Summer Camps Volunteers
During summer camps, the weekday programs and field trips are suspended and week-long summer camp takes their place. Summer camp volunteers will assist the camp teachers in instruction, gardening, cooking, management, and other opportunities that may arise. Summer camp is a great way to fully experience the Edible Schoolyard “Seed to Table” educational philosophy. We have great need for summer camp volunteers to be self-directed, motivated, fun, and to have a strong love of working with children.
Event and Class Volunteers
Throughout the year, the Edible Schoolyard hosts special events and classes. We invite our regular volunteers to help with these special activities, which often take place outside of regular museum hours. Keep an eye on your inbox for these opportunities.
To apply as a volunteer, fill out the volunteer application and submit it by email or by snail mail to The Greensboro Children’s Museum, 220 N. Church Street, Greensboro, NC 27401 attn: Kat Siladi.
