Summer Camp

The Edible Schoolyard offers week-long, day camps for kids grades preschool through 8th.

June 6-10 Bugs, Bees, and Butterflies

Ages: 4 yrs- Rising Kindergarten,  9am – 1pm

Discover the magic of the flying and crawling little friends that help our garden grow. Learn to plant pollinator friendly plants, use honey from bees to prepare delicious snacks, and identify garden critters.

June 13-17 Little Farmers in the City 

Ages: 4 yrs- Rising Kindergarten, 9am – 1pm

Experience the life of an urban farmer for the week! Each day we will explore the garden, taking care of the plants and animals. We will also visit the farmer’s market and host our very own market on the last day of camp.

June 20-24 Garden Hoedown

Ages: Rising 1st-2nd, 9am – 3pm

Lets play, learn, and dance the days away on the farm this summer!  Help with daily chores like planting, harvesting, egg-collecting, and feeding chickens.  Play old time games, make tasty farm treats, and end the week with an old fashioned barn dance!

June 27-July 1 Iron Chef

Ages: Rising 6th- 8th, 9am – 3pm

The heat is on in the Edible Schoolyard Kitchen!  Using senses, skills, and creativity, campers will try new foods, practice kitchen basics, and tackle challenges.  A final competition will be held on the last day, featuring local celebrity judges and secret ingredients.

July 11-15 Water, Water, Everywhere! – SOLD OUT – Email Heather at hoakley@gcmuseum.com to be added to the waitlist.

Ages:4yrs-Rising K’s, 9am – 1pm

Water is the secret to all life in The Edible Schoolyard garden!  Campers will explore the pond and the many critters that live there, practice water plants, and use water to make mud in the Mud Café among many other fun activities this week.

July 18-22 Cooking on the Farm SOLD OUT – Email Heather at hoakley@gcmuseum.com to be added to the waitlist.

Ages: Rising 1st – 2nd, 9am – 3pm

Dig, plant, cook, and eat like a farmer in The Edible Schoolyard! Learn to prepare garden recipes, harvest vegetables, and care for chickens. Families are invited to celebrate on Friday with a delicious farm feast.

July 25-29 Farm Chef Camp – SOLD OUT – Email Heather at hoakley@gcmuseum.com to be added to the waitlist.

Ages: Rising 3rd-5th, 9am – 3pm

Flex your culinary skills in The Edible Schoolyard kitchen classroom using fresh ingredients from the garden. We’ll learn cooking and garden basics and culminate in a camper-led farm tour and tasting.

Aug 1-5 Art in the Garden

Ages: Rising 1st – 2nd, 9am – 3pm

Using nature as our inspiration, we’ll explore different artists, styles, and media. Over the week, each child will create their own piece to show on the final day’s art exhibition and tea in the garden.

Aug 10-14 Baking Boot Camp

Ages: Rising 6th -8th, 9am – 3pm

Unleash your creativity and whip up delicious culinary creations in The Edible Schoolyard Kitchen. Learn the fundamentals of baking and explore cookies, quick breads, yeast breads, pastry and cakes.  We’ll open our own bakery and offer some treats for sale on the final day of camp.
